A journey towards success is different for each person. For some, success comes easily but most of the time we go on a long and difficult path to get there.
I thought blogging would be a great way to engage my mind, connect with others, and have a positive impact through my writing; three aspects of life I value. I had no idea I would need to learn an entirely different way of writing!
My writing style favors being informative and objective. It’s how I get my work done and how I wrote papers in college. Blogging favors emotionally connecting with readers, something I can do in person but is more difficult for me in writing.
I found myself on a new learning curve!
I feel I am starting at the base of a mountain, pushing a plow, and slowing trudging ahead, gravity and untilled dirt are my enemies.
Right now, my journey is slow, hard work with little progress. Yet, there is a steady voice inside me saying,
I have something to say to the world that will make a difference in others’ lives. Keep going, keep going, keep trudging ahead, even though there is tremendous resistance. My slow and arduous steps will move me forward, past the base of the mountain, and I will make my way to the top. I will stumble at times and may need to bandage some wounds. Remember to get back up, every time, because I have something to say. My journey will not be in vain. I lean into the struggle, knowing there are rewards along the way - not rewards of tangible value, but of lasting worth, wisdom, and triumph.
I stare at that mountain with sweat on my brow from a long day’s work, and I say,
Mountain, you are not my enemy but my chosen path. The challenges I face on this journey will strengthen and prepare me for what’s ahead. I know why I am here, to share my story and help others along their way.
My friend, whatever your journey, whether you are approaching your mountain, on the curve, or you’ve reached the summit, remember that success is not only in the destination but also in the journey.
